New reports claim next season will be Teri’s last and that costar Felicity will be leaving the show as well, could the series finally be coming to an end?

There is some very bad news for Desperate Housewives fans — Teri Hatcher is allegedly leaving the show after next season! The Daily Mail reports, “The 45-year-old actress, who has played ditsy mother Susan Mayer for seven years, has told colleagues at ABC that the next season will be her last. Bosses at the U.S. network are now prepared for a double exit with co-star Felicity Huffman following Hatcher out of the show.”

Teri’s role on the hit show has long been acknowledged as reviving her career, while also making stars of actors Felicity, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria.

Teri is said to want to follow in the footsteps of someone like Courteney Cox and develop her own show, similar to what Courteney did with Cougar Town after her success with Friends. A source says, “She has another production deal in the pipeline and she is in the early stages of developing a sitcom that she wants to start work on immediately after she finishes Desperate Housewives – she wants a new show in time for the mid-January pilot season.”

Would you still watch Desperate Housewives without Teri?
