Willow Smith Is A Star, But Her Parents Still Call The Shots: 'Mommy Has To Say It's Okay'

Willow Smith is well on her way to becoming a superstar but her parents, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, are making sure that she keeps her little feet firmly planted on the ground.

The Smith family is unstoppable! The youngest member of their crew, 10-year-old Willow Smith, is the newest superstar thanks to her hit single ‘Whip My Hair’ which was produced by Jay-Z‘s record label, Roc Nation. But remember, this little diva is only a kid and her parents Will Smith, 42, and Jada-Pinkett Smith, 39, are still calling the shots! “I can’t do whatever I want,” she explains in the December issue of W magazine. “Mommy has to say it’s okay.” Good for the Smiths! It’s so common for child stars to get away with murder, so it’s nice to hear that her parents are taking charge.

Ellen DeGeneres gave Willow a neck brace–for all that hair whipping!

Although she may be called a mini Rihanna, Willow has some surprising musical influences! “I like the way Billy Idol sings,” she says. “Mommy turned me on to him. And I like Lady Gaga’s songs.” She says she is “focusing on her music right now,” but with top-notch acting chops in the family, including her brother Jayden, 12, who has already starred in hit films like The Pursuit of Happiness and The Karate Kid, Willow seems destined to end up on the big screen!

Willow says her music video was hard work!

“Mommy and Daddy inspired me to be a performer,” Willow admits. “I get my flow from Daddy, my singing ability from Mommy, and the camera stuff from both. That’s just what happens when you hang out with the Smiths!” This charismatic kid is driven in a way we didn’t even know was possible at 10-years-old. She is sure to go far! With Will and Jada as her strong support system, I don’t think Willow will end up in rehab, like a lot of other former child stars, anytime soon!
