Bristol Palin's Win Could Kill 'Dancing With The Stars' : 'No One In Hollywood Will Ever Want To Be On The Show Again!'

Thu, November 18, 2010 4:26pm EDT by 87 Comments

As Bristol keeps advancing in the competition and far more accomplished dancers are let go, her chances of winning are becoming very real and producers of the hit show are VERY nervous!

Bristol Palin made it through another week of Dancing With the Stars on Nov. 16, besting Brandy and now sitting in the finals with Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massay! While Bristol is in no way as talented a dancer as her fellow competitors, America still seems to love her and brings her back week after week. Naughty but Nice Rob Shuter over at Popeater spoke to a source who said, “Any creditability the show had will be over. It will go from being a dancing competition to a popularity competition where whoever has the most rabid fan base will always win no matter how little talent they have.”

“Another problem the producers foresee is that after Bristol wins no one in Hollywood will ever want to be on the show again,” an ABC source says. “Why would a real star want to compete and lose against someone like Christine O’Donnell or Levi Johnston. It’s humiliating. The producers know they are in big trouble for sure.”

Even now there seems to be murmurs among the general public that they will no longer watch or support the show should Bristol remain, and god forbid she win.

Because if Bristol wins, it will likely give mom Sarah Palin that extra push to compete in a similarly public voted competition in 2012.

obviously like your website however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the reality on the other hand I will definitely come back again.

No said a word when Emmett Smith beat out Mario. Mario was the better dancer, but in this case the fan base won. So..it does happen.

i cannot for the life of me think of why anyone gives a sh!t about bristol, the show, or bristol winning the show. and as for future “stars” on the show— only the most desperate “can my career be saved” stars appear on the show anyway… so losing to someone with less talent is really just another grain of sand at the beach. wgas?

I have to agree with some of the comments, especially from “Jennifer” and, to some extent, “Terribly Texas”. Even when I did not agree with the outcome, I had to admit that the winners did at least show musicality and were entertaining. But this season seems different. Also, I can’t recall that the show was ever called Dancing with the Stars who are Rank Amateurs and Never, Ever Danced in Public Before. The results usually show there’s a mix of popularity, personality, and dance ability in the voters’ decision. For the first time, some of the results seem largely political. Going on dance ability alone, I would have voted for Jennifer and Brandy to be in the finals. Of course, who knows how much Audrina would have improved?
Peace and love, everybody!

That is a ridiculous assumption because Hollywood goes where the money is. Some down and out ex-star would turn down the money. This is just another spill to run down the Palins.

I do NOT believe this for one minute! DWTS will go on, their ratings alone will keep them on the air. I do not understand the negativity, bashing and the meanness of the American people. I find it deplorable at best! This in fighting that some Pro’s and “stars” have also shown is terrible! Talk about discrimination, this is what is happening.
Those of you who are acting like two year olds WAKE UP! It is a dance show, a temporary position.I am angered at those who have spewed hatred and discriminated, it is disgusting!!

The problem is that Americans aren’t doing this. It is the so called entertainment media, press, and lib hostilities. DWTS is and has always been a popularity contest. Bristol is not a bad dancer, she is every bit as good as Kyle, he just has that black swagger that he shakes around and they hail him. Brandy had a stinky attitute and felt she belonged to that trophy and it turn people against her, it did me. In retrospect so did Jennifer. She complained and complained through the whole thing and then all of a sudden she got healed to dance on. Give me a break, Bristol is the only one who hasn’t complained.

You do not understand the negativity and meanness of the American people towards Bristol Palin finalist spot seeing that she dances like Humpty dumpty on tooth picks, but you can understand a show that was supposed to be for fun and the best dancer is being used by a certain group to make a political statement. How hypocritical just like a Tea Partier, they understand a justfication for tax breaks for the rich but not money for unemployment benefits for workers laid off caused by folks they support.

oh pleeze. you pit experienced dancers (brandy/gray) with non experienced like bristol and then are shocked when bristol beats them… at least so far brandy? of course this show is about fan base. the voting on this show has always been off because the public votes and they will never vote for the best dancer unless of course that is their favorite person on t.v. or in the movies to win. at least if you are going to have a show that states non experienced dancers are being taught by professionals and then compete with other non experienced dancers then live up to it. it was unfair from day one when gray and brandy and others came on the show with dancing experience.

two subjects that make me change the channel– sponge bob and sarah palin…. and now another palin. Good bye dancin with stars. I think sponge bob was a better dancer.. havent people figured out that any high claims of book sales or tv watching of their shows is fabricated… I heard the first book sale was spiked when amazon almost gave it away to get rid of the book. too bad but this group makes dancing with stars look like anybody can just buy their title.

What’s hilarious is the fantasy Sara Palin has that she will win the Presidency in 2012. I mean LOOK at this family? Sarah is teaching them all to be mini narcissist’s. They make the Bush daughter’s look discreet. Do you see Obama’s daughter’s in public very often or posting on FaceBook? Palin’s fan base is very rabid and that base is very loud. Chris Coon’s SEN elect from DEL was very careful in not upsetting Christine O’Donnell’s supporter’s. Palin live’s in a bubble believing this rabidity will somehow win her the Presidency. It could win her the GOP primary which scare’s the h_ll out of GOP hiearchy. USA is a large country and I guarantee you no matter what the economy is like in 2012. Sarah Palin would lose hugely to Obama. She’d lose just about every battleground state. Her personal popularity pollig is very low. Palin’s chances of winning a general election are so low… Palin is as narcisstic as one can be. I hope she run’s and win’s the GOP nomition. Unfortuantely I think there powerful enough GOP power broker’s out there who will prevent that from ever happenng.

It will destoy “DWTS’s” …………it already has ruined this season for me. I won’t be watching the finals and, if they don’t award the one who most deserves the trophy, I will no longer be a viewer.
What a shame…….and they had a pretty good show going to just throw it away!

I think this “controversy” is hilarious. She came on because they invited her, she didn’t flame out and make an ass out of herself like I think they were hoping for. Now they have to deal with the fact that she might even win. They asked her on for controversy and publicity, now they have all they can handle.

As for the comments that the Palin daughter is not a “star”, the show itself plays fast and loose with that term if you consider some of the past dancers on that show.

That is ok because she is black. CareyAn Arbur falls all over them. It is just like now, instead of treating them equally, she goes overboard. I thought she was going to die of a heat stroke when Rick Scott was on there.

Terribly is right. It’s the inequity and constant coddling of Bristol that makes us angry! If everything had been equal and she made it into the finals we would be amazed but not angry. Bad dancers have made it into the finals before, but only after becoming good dancers in order to make it. Bristol might be the most improved dancer but she is still not at the quality that Kelly Osborne was when she made it in. Had the judges fairly and sternly judged BP as all other celebs (they were brutal on Audrina, while giving Bristol a pass each week), had the voting system worked for everyone (DWTS & Idol both use AT&T. Idol has higher phone volume but their phones never jam up) Had either every contestant gotten constant promotion on GMA or no one (it seems to me there has been a Palin on GMA every day since the season started, I stopped watching), and had ABC and BBC America not colluded to fix the finals by adding a fourth dance for the first time ever, when Jennifer is hurt, as documented well all season, had everything been equal and fair we would be confused by BP’s presence in the finals but not angry. Make no mistake regular viewers of the show are disgusted and pissed off by the Bristol fix! In their lust for ratings and revenue ABC and BBC America have gone way too far! Succesfully killed their golden goose in the process!

The producers have only themselves to blame. Sanjaya Palin has been judged on an easier scale than all of the other dancers and given higher than deserved scores all season long, including the semi-finals! Had she been judged on the same scale as everyone else she would have been gone in week 3 or 4. The voting system has been hijacked by tea party robodialers and online hater coalitions since week 4 but ABC / BBC America did nothing to open additional phone lines or server access so long-time viewers and voters could get through to cast their vote. The ongoing promotion of Palin on ABC shows like GMA with NO promotion for other dancers is downright embarrasing. There has been a Palin on GMA 4 out of 6 days a week since DWTS started! The spin ABC PR is putting on this is insulting and pours salt in the wound…”Its your fault Palin is there because you didn’t vote!” WRONG we tried to vote and couldn’t because your system was log-jammed! “Palin is the will of the people.” WRONG AGAIN! Only the will of tea party robodialers and hater coalitions who have prevented long time fans of the show from voting! Now the show goes from BAD to WORSE by adding a FOURTH dance for the first time ever in the finals when the only truly decent dancer in the competition, Jennifer Grey, is injured and frail. I wonder, who does that change help? Guess they didn’t want to take any chances…had to insure a Palin victory! I’ve watched every episode of all 11 seasons and I WILL NOT be a loyalist to this show anymore! They have very succesfully driven me away with their inequities throughout this season!

I too am dumfounded that Bristol has made it this far. First she is not a “star”. Just a popular politician’s daughter. I definately do not look at her in any way as “America’s Sweetheart”. PLEEZE! Her claim to fame is becoming a teenage single mom, who now goes around telling other kids to “abstain”. She definately has improved but is no way a fantastic enough dancer to deserve to take home the Mirror Ball. Watching her stiff dancing makes me cringe. And now reading about her and her sister’s facebook wars…tsk, tsk, tsk! If she wins I will probably give up on the show also.

Looks like this show is going to become the next American Idol, where the talent is let go and a loser wins every year…especially now that Jennifer Lopez is judging, we’ll surely get the cream of the crop! I like Dancing with the Stars 10 times as much as I like American Idol now…JLo killed it for me…never watching that crap again.
