The former footballer popped the question to Jessica Nov. 11 — congratulations!

It looks like former newlyweds Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson both have reason to celebrate this month as Jessica’s boyfriend of six months Eric Johnson has asked the singer to marry him! USmagazine.com reports that Eric popped the question Nov. 11, just days after Jessica’s ex-husband Nick became engaged to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

This will be the second marriage for both Jessica and Eric, who was estranged from wife Keri Johnson when he and Jessica began dating.

Jessica may have not known Eric was going to pop the question. If this is the case, it’s not about her trying to upstage Nick. However, where did Eric get the money to buy the ring?? He doesn’t have a job that I know of and was in the NFL a short time.
