Check out my tips and picks for the perfect casual date night get-up for fall!
I know it can be hard to pick out the perfect get-up, especially if you’re going on a more casual date. If the guy you just started dating suggests going to a movie, resist the urge to throw on your fave sweats or that really comfy pair of jeans you always wear when you catch a flick with your girlfriends — especially if you just started dating! I’m not saying you have to throw on stilettos or a party dress, (you should still be comfortable and casual), but you want to look neat, put together, and of course stylish. While I couldn’t settle on one celeb look from head to toe to channel, the outfit is based on a combination of the elements both Ashley Tisdale and Kim Kardashian are working with.
First and foremost, don’t try too hard and stick to something that reflects your personal style — if you like the way you look in you’re outfit and you’re comfortable in it, you will ooze confidence (I know I always say this but it’s the truth). Below I took a basic pair of skinny jeans (I opted for jeggings since they’re usually more comfortable) but if you’re more of a leggings gal (like myself) feel free to swap the jeans for leggings — just make sure they aren’t faded or ripped. I think a pair of flat boots is the way to go– either combat boots, riding boots, or even a flat thigh-high boot could work. If you’re super short or just don’t feel comfortable in a flat shoe, a casual bootie or a knee high boot with a low, chunky heel is a great substitute (this doesn’t mean the pair of boots you wore out dancing til 4 AM with your girlfriends last Friday night, we still want the get-up to look casual). Finally, a chunky sweater coat or interesting jacket would be your best bet over a basic tee, v-neck, or button-down shirt or sweater. Keep your outfit simple, but feel free to throw on a scarf to add a little style to the overall look — either a chunky knit or a lightweight one depending on the climate you’re in.
I also really like wearing a fedora or a knit cap (like the ones on Ashley Tisdale and Kim Kardashian above) but not everyone is comfortable in a hat. If you choose to wear a hat, that’s not an excuse to not wash your hair — although you can’t go wrong with a side braid!
Check out the picks below if you’re looking for the perfect date night outfit, just in time for the weekend!

These are terrible ideas. The two looks above are clearly airport runs / cold weather errand running outfits. NOT chic, especially for a first date. Try harder.
