Jessica Simpson’s brother-in-law thinks her new love, Eric Johnson, could be the real deal. But is it necessary that your family like your man?

We all know how Jessica Simpson feels about new boyfriend Eric Johnson — she literally can’t stop herself from confiding how in love she is! But do her family members think he’s a good fit, and should it affect her relationship even if they didn’t approve?

“He’s a really smart guy, and Jessica really loves him,” Jessica’s brother-in-law, Pete Wentz, recently told People magazine, adding, “I think the most important thing [is] seeing her happy.”

Clearly the disapproval of her family and friends isn’t going to be an issue for Jessica, now 30. Everyone in her immediate circle, including her parents and sister Ashlee, has met Eric, 31, and seems to feel that if she truly adores him, so will they.

However, if those close to you don’t like your guy, don’t write him off just yet. Your family and friends are NOT involved in your relationship, and they can’t know all the particulars of how he makes you feel. But you SHOULD see it as a warning that those you’re closest to think there’s something wrong — and you should be a little  more careful about giving your heart away too fast.

After all, those who know you best know usually — but not always — know what’s best for you, right?
