Jessica’s bro-in-law says she is really in love with her NFL stud! Is this finally the happy ending she’s looking for?
It’s no secret Jessica Simpson hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to love and relationships, but brother-in-law Pete Wentz told People magazine her current boyfriend Eric Johnson could be the real deal!
Jessica, 30, has been linked with the former NFL player since May, and it seems that those close to her are approving this romance! “He’s a really smart guy, and Jessica really loves him,” Pete told the mag.
After Jessica’s three year marriage to former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey ended, she was linked to rocker bad boy John Mayer. When that fizzled, she moved onto the Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, and we all know how that turned out. Hopefully this football dude won’t break her heart like the last one.
The singer and fashion designer has been frequently seen out and about smiling with Eric, 31, leading us to believe she has put all of those former flames behind her now and is happily focusing her attention on her new beau.
So will Jessica be walking down the aisle with the former NFL star? Only time will tell, but Pete isn’t dismissing the idea! “I think the most important thing [is] seeing her happy,” he said.

If she had grown up ‘normal’ in a normal family she would have been married long ago to her high school sweetheart. She would have three kids, a nice house, a great husband and could eat whatever she wanted, and weigh whatever she wanted to. Is fame really worth all this? To have the whole world see your unhappiness? I hope he marries her and takes her far away from show biz. I would like to see her face on a website called Whatever Happened To? in ten years, and learn she is married, a mom and happy.
