Harry Potter star Emma Watson reveals that her parents have always treated her like an adult, even giving her alcohol (mixed with water) when she was just 7 years old. Do you think that’s OK?

Harry Potter star Emma Watson became a megastar at the young age of 11, but she was introduced to alcohol at the riper age of 7! Emma, 20, says that because her parents — who both happen to be lawyers — treated her in an adult way when she was young, she is a more responsible girl today. “I was never not allowed alcohol — I was 7 when I had my first glass of wine, mixed with water and with a meal,” Emma says. “I found it really strange when I got to school and everyone was like, ‘Ooh, we’ve got alcohol!’ I wasn’t interested.”

While moms in the US might find that scandalous, it’s quite common for parents in Europe to give their kids watered down wine when the family sits down together to enjoy their evening meal.
The actress explains that because she wasn’t “babied” and “expected to step up when I was told to,” she grew up uninterested in the adolescent naivety of her fellow teenagers. She was introduced to alcohol at such a young age that it seemed like an unexciting thing when she reached high school and now college.
It doesn’t seem like Emma is the type of girl who will be sent to rehab — so maybe her parents’ plan worked!
