After years of bitter and poisonous fighting between them, Dina says she’d be OK with her estranged ex-husband Michael and Lindsay having a relationship.

Wow! After court orders of protection and endless finger-pointing Dina Lohan, 48, tells Matt Lauer, 52, on the Today Show (Nov. 8) that she thinks her 24-year-old daughter Lindsay Lohan should “absolutely” rekindle the relationship with her estranged father, Michael Lohan, 50 … that it’s going to help LiLo beat her addiction problems!

“I don’t know if it’s fact or fiction [that Lindsay has seen her father since entering rehab],” Dina says. “But whatever the facility wishes for her … it’s all about Lindsay and her healing.”

“I’ve been a single mom for 15 years,” Dina continues. But, “whatever will make Lindsay heal and get better … that’s all that can help.”

Right now, Dina just wants LiLo to focus on the treatment she’s receiving while in her rehabilitation program at Betty Ford. “As a mother, it wasn’t for me to come tell the world about her problem — that was for her to do. Addiction is difficult,” explains Dina. “I don’t know [when Lindsay will get better]. I don’t have a crystal ball. I [just] pray hard. ”

Dina wants her to stay in treatment as long as it takes. “Lindsay wants to stay,” says Dina. “She’s learning the trigger points and why she turns to drugs or addiction. It’s a life long journey and I really think that this facility — Betty Ford — has helped me personally dealing with addiction. I have other family members … my ex, I put in Betty Ford in 1984. I feel it’s up to her [now].”

After Lindsay is done, Dina thinks that she will use the knowledge that she’s gained to help other people in the same situation. “She wants to start her own facility to help other children,” says Dina. “She’s so public that I think we can only be positive and look to the future to help other families.”
