Even though she may be a newlywed, she isn’t enjoying quiets nights at home with her hubby!
We got to catch up with Hilary Duff when she co-hosted Lucky Shops with Lucky Magazine on Nov. 4 where she talked about how her life has changed now that she tied the knot with NHL player Mike Comrie. Since her hubby is often on the road playing for the Penguins, Hilary says the couple is rarely in the same state at the same time!
“I think its [her life] pretty much stayed the same. We live apart right now but that’s not a challenge because we’ve been doing it for so long,” she said. “Like for our whole relationship we’ve been living in different cities except for the summer.”
Hilary, you should call up fellow hockey wife Carrie Underwood — the country crooner and recent newlywed has said the same exact thing about her new married life. While you may not route for the same team, you can certainly keep each other company while your men are on the road!
While some may think her situation is a total bummer (and others may think it’s ideal!) she says the couple is strong and has learned how to make it work. “We are used to it and I think that when it’s worth it to you [your relationship] then you make it work. When you know that this is the right person and you’re both strong enough and independent,” she said. “I think it’s important that you’re both very strong people and you don’t need to have each other but you want to have each other. That helps.”
So is she discovering anything new about her husband? While some wives may quickly find out that their significant other has quirky habits they never picked up on prior to marriage, Hilary says that isn’t the case in her situation! “I haven’t learned he’s a slob or anything, I pretty much knew he was an aggressive driver but nothing else,” she said. “I’m really thankful that I haven’t gotten a big shock yet.”
Aw, regardless of their conflicting schedules we’re so happy Hilary and Mike know how to make it work. She seems happier than ever and loves her new role, as wife!
