Edison talks with the host about everything from wanting to leave the mine the first time he walked in and the difficulties of using the bathroom trapped a half mile underground!
Edison Pena may have spent 69 days trapped underground, but the rescued Chilean miner was all smiles and laughs as he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman Nov. 4! The mischievous looking 34-year-old, who will be competing in the New York City Marathon Nov. 7, manged to win over the crowd when at the end of his segment he began to sing Elvis Presley‘s “Suspicious Minds” — completely on key!
Edison was well known for entertaining the 32 other miners with his musical stylings during their time trapped together. Edison, through a translator, told the talk show host, “The first time I walked into a mine, I wanted to turn around and get out.”
Edison was invited to ride in the lead car at the NYC Marathon but surprised everyone when he said he would participate in the event. The triathlete will surely have no trouble getting through the challenge!
