Demi’s dad hasn’t seen her in months, but he isn’t afraid to leap to his daughter’s defense and voice his concerns over the pressures from the entertainment industry!
Patrick Lovato was surprised to hear his daughter, Demi, had checked into a treatment center to battle her “emotional and physical issues”, but he claims he should have seen it coming.
“There are a lot of pressures. That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney,” Patrick said in an interview with RadarOnline.com.
Indeed, it would seem a combination of the pressures from Hollywood, an exhausting media tour for Camp Rock 2, and the stress of being on tour with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas (and his new girlfriend Ashley Greene) just seemed too much for the 18-year-old Demi Lovato, despite having grown up with showbiz parents.
“She grew up around it so I guess that’s why she went into it; I guess it’s in her genes with her mom and her dad,” he said.
Demi’s dad has been in the hospital for the past few months battling cancer, and hasn’t seen his daughter due to her busy work schedule. “It’s been a couple of months. I’ve been in the hospital for two months and I just got out. She hasn’t visited, she’s been too busy. She’s been way too busy,” he said.
Though Patrick couldn’t comment on rumors of self-mutilation, there is one thing he is sure of: Demi will pull through. “She’ll be fine,” he said in the interview. “She’s strong alright.”
