ABC used a rapping kid to push this week’s annual airing of the classic TV movie featuring the Peanuts gang. Is nothing sacred?
Who are the advertising wizards behind this one? ABC clearly didn’t trust the timeless classic TV special that is It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown to reach a new audience, so it featured Charlie Brown rapping in the commercial! It starts with our hero shouting out to his “party people,” and referring to himself as “Charlie B.” before mentioning trick-or-treating and how the kids’ party will start “thumpin’”! “Thumpin’”? Really? Oh, ABC, why? Is this the worst idea ever? Watch the ad and vote!
Far be it from us to judge too harshly, but, seriously, did the network think it was going to get a host of new viewers by using lines like, “Snoopy’s gettin’ saucy, and things’ll get crazy with the Peanuts posse,” or “Where is Linus? This party is posh. He’s waitin’ in the field for a mythical squash”?
We feel like Lucy just pulled the football away from us as we tried to kick it!
