After almost a week of debating, Céline Dion and her husband, René Angélil, have decided to name their newborn sons Eddy and Nelson, as a tribute to two special men in their lives.
HollyMoms, remember how we told you yesterday (Oct. 29) that Céline Dion and her hubby, René Angélil, were having a heck of a time picking the perfect names for their fraternal twin sons who arrived on Saturday? Well, almost a week after their birth, the couple has finally figured out what to call the newest additions to the family — Eddy and Nelson.
Little Nelson is a tribute to the former South African president Nelson Mandela, who the 42-year-old singer got to meet two years ago. “René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” their rep tells People.
The other newborn is named after Eddy Marnay, who produced Céline’s first five albums. “He was like a father to her,” explains the rep. “Céline and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men.”
HollyMoms, did you name your kids after someone special?
After spending a few weeks in the hospital as a precaution, I’m sure Celine is now enjoying being back at her Palm Beach, Fla. home surrounded by all of the precious men in her life, including her 9-year-old son, René-Charles.
