Bonnie Says: Jon Stewart Was Right! President Obama Appears Too Timid! He NEEDS to Shout from the Rooftops!

Thu, October 28, 2010 1:08pm EDT by 12 Comments

When President Obama took to Jon Stewart’s special Washington set on the Daily Show and gave him a full 15 -minute interview last night, he demonstrated EXACTLY why voters are deserting him in droves.

He CALMLY told us that his administration has had historic achievements. He agreed that the slogan that helped him win the last presidential election, “Change you can believe in,” needed to have the anew dd-on – “but we have to work on it.” He continually repeated that change “is a work in progress.”

President Obama, you are right! We the people are unreasonable. We want our change immediately! We want our jobs back! We want our mortgages fixed! We want better education! Lower taxes!

But we weren’t sure we want healthcare, especially after all the crazy ads that have onvinced us that Obamacare will raise our premiums and send our grannies to death panels!

In any case, we wanted all the good stuff fast, especially JOBS! Instead, you keep telling us that it will take longer than 18 months to make these things happen.

And when you tell us these things, you say them so quietly and calmly (like you did last night on the Daily Show), we feel gypped!

We want fiery change! We want emotion — we respond to that. Having you get worked up makes us feel like you care and that you have accomplished something. It’s the secret of Sarah Palin. She’s fired up and fun to listen to. People forget that she’s full of BS and has actually accomplished nothing except making herself a whole lot richer.

With Jon Stewart, you had a sympathetic forum and an opportunity to give it right back to the Republicans and the the Tea Party, who’ve done nothing to help the jobless except rant about the deficit.

Why didn’t you rant about how real people don’t care about the damn deficit no matter what the Republicans go on about? I can guarantee you that no one wakes up in the morning sweating about the deficit but they do wake up freaked out that they have lost their job or may lose it.

Why didn’t you give us example after example of jobs you created — because you did — and of more jobs that are on the way? You could have given us sob stories about all the people who are about to be out of work because the Republicans won’t re-stimulate and fund all the fantastic and necessary state jobs that you created and supported.

And here’s another thing: You never stuck it to the Republicans for creating the Great Recession in the first place. Why don’t you LOUDLY lay blame where it belongs and ask the electorate how they could trust the bums enough to vote them back?

Sorry, Mr. President, but tough times call for tough talk. People want to hear that  from you– not just a reasonable discussion about “notions” that you have.

The sad thing is that you and your administration have accomplished a ton, but because you won’t shout it from the rooftops even on a Dem-friendly show like Jon Stewart’s, we the public will end up back with the same crowd in Congress that got us into so much trouble in the first place.

If Obama goess off yelling and screaming some of you will accuse him of being a another angry Black man.. Obama is a a calm speakinkg person at times for goofy dudes like Stewart. Obam knows you can get your point across without yelling and screaming like soem of the republicans and tea -party people.. no need to scare people off.

@Terri – Get your facts straight..that means reading websites other than FOX news.

Bonnie – This is exactly how I felt watching this show. You captured it nicely. I fiery and emotion.

Everything Obama said was purposefully soft. You could visibly see him think twice of SLAMMIN’ THE SH*# out of republicans bullsh** that the media feeds on. I can only think it is because he knows that he must still go to work with them.

Get pissed off, Obama. Why do you and others continue to waste our Country’s time trying to appease a bunch of sore losers. The Dems **won** the last election. The ***majority of Americans*** wanted Obama change when they voted and all they got was a bunch of pu**y Democrats and a president bending over backwards to Republican compromises.

The result…timid legislature compared to America’s expectations.

Since Republicans voted NO on everything. They get no credit when housing turns around next spring and jobs come back in Q2 of next year. 10000000% Obama.

It is time for Obama to listen to Pelosi and take off the friggin kiddie gloves off.

A person with mastery does not appear perturbed. He has not been timid. Considering healthcare reform and financial reform, just these 2 are more than many presidents get through in 4 years. This despite an angry populus and a 2 front war in the middle east.

The opposition was 2 steps away from having Sarah Palin behind the Nukes. Jon Mccain, god bless him, doesnt appear to have the stamina for the job. Nothing compared to the current performance we are seeing.

I believe the President will go down in history as one of the greats.

I remember a meeting recently with BP executives. Wasn’t 20 billion arranged for a trust fund? Hasnt he held out on jobs in the gulf to ensure greater safety, despite endangering unempolyment stats?

I am amazed he carries himself with composure, think about his job. The day in and out decisions made under historically strict oversight. Many are waiting to exagerate any mistake.

He has’nt made any, other than predicting no more than 8% unemployment, where people can say that was obviously stupid. People may disagree with his policies, but most do not understand a breakdown of GDP, where we can cut, or the fundamental issues and arguments around TARP and Stimulus spending.

He has read The ART OF WAR by Sun Tzu. It is noticeable by the content of his work without showing his hand.

he didn’t tell us about the jobs he’s created (or saved???) because there aren’t enough to mention or make a difference in the big picture.

his priority from day 1 should have been jobs and the economy. after he passed a 700 B stimulus that didn’t work, he wasted a year on health INSURANCE for everyone that 60+ percent of the people don’t want.

He would rather offend the victims of 9/11 than the Muslims.

He sues states for trying to protect their borders – the job the federal govt should be doing.

He says police ‘act stupidly’ when they do their job investigating a break-in.

His administration failes to prosecute cases of voter intimidation in Penn because the defendants are black (racism in our justice dept).

BO 08 – 12. no more, please

I guess the college you attended taught you well in celebrity gossip but didn’t teach you anything in economics. YES the American people do care about the deficit and yes americans care about taxes, jobs, liberty and their freedom. Something has happened to the role of the President. The name calling (starting with Clinton) going on comedy shows just dimishes the Presidency. This President has completely taken this job to the gutter.
Personnelly this president SCARES me.
OBTW can you find a moral ground you would like to stand.
I find any child performer should NOT have their pictures or gossip posted on these web pages.

Terri,
I do not think the President performed in a way that diminishes his credibiity. He is deliberate in speech and the amount of joking was appropriate.

How could this president be “scary”? He mentioned the ratio of gdp to debt and compared that to the SNL crises, much smaller despite much larger problem.

He mentioned the number of jobs lost prior to his policies even starting.

The economy is growing, albeit slowly. Much of our deficit is currently from decreased tax revenue from decreased productivity.

His policies are moderate. Do you know how much additional taxes a person making 350k a year will have to pay? Roughly $4500 dollars. This is nothing. We are still getting a break up to 250K.

How could anyone argue that continuing these tax cuts for this segment is wise? In this demographic, it is generally saved, not spent to spur the economy. (.8c0ents in stimulus per dollar compared to $1.3 per govt dollar spent).

This is a moderate solution.

Scared of healthcare reform? Answer this- How are we paying for the non medicare, non medicaid non insured anyway? We will not kick out a dying person who can be saved. Why is it important to have more people insured?Describe the MECHANISM of how this places a drag on me, you and the government. Fundamental question.

Thanks for reading, good luck.
