OK, this explains a lot — Charlie was totally high when he was rushed to the hospital!

We heard Charlie Sheen, 45, was “intoxicated” Oct. 26 when he was transported from his hotel room at The Plaza to New York Presbyterian Hospital — but now we know what that really means. “He tested positive for cocaine,” a hospital source tells “And he’s only been out of rehab for two months.”

The official excuse for the incident, as given by Charlie’s spokesperson, was that Charlie had an “allergic reaction,” but I think we all know otherwise: “Everyone who knows what happened is laughing at that,” the source tells the site. “It’s ridiculous. But Charlie is a big meal ticket for a lot of people.”

Charlie’s ex-wife Denise Richards was conveniently next door to Charlie’s hotel room, and she accompanied him to the hospital.

So what’s Charlie’s big plan? He’s heading back to rehab, and the source says he’s getting off easy.

“He may do it as an out-patient, which is what he did last time,” the source explains. “He basically sleeps at Promises and does what he wants during the day. … That way he won’t have to miss any work and he has his freedom.”
