While Neil Patrick Harris tweets his surprise about how much his new babies cry, his How I Met Your Mother co-star Alyson weighs in on his parenting skills.
Neil Patrick Harris has a brand new set of twins with his partner, David Burtka, and his co-star on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan, thinks the funny man is made for fatherhood. “Without a doubt they will be wonderful dads who are going to love their little babies so much,” she told People magazine. “Those are going to be two lucky babies.”
Alyson, 36, and her husband, Alexis Denisof, 44, have a 19-month-old child of their own, daughter Satyana, and so were eager to give Neil, 37, and David, 35, plenty of advice about how to deal with the arrival of twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace. “I don’t think they needed any of our advice but we peppered them with all the information that my husband and I have,” Alyson said. “We gave them a list of our favorite products and talked about [how] the first six weeks in is kind of the hardest. [Just] trying to figure out what each cry means or what is the best schedule for the baby is hard.”
Neil and David hired a surrogate to carry the twins to term, and the babies were born last Tuesday (Oct. 12). Neil announced their arrival on his Twitter feed, writing, “Babies! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey.” A few days later, he returned with, “Youngsters. They cry a lot. I thought it was just a long bit that they were doing. I keep saying, “Annnnd, scene!”… but nothing happens.”
