On Wednesday (Oct. 13) a judge denied Jon Gosselin’s plea to stop TLC from filming his eight children for Kate Plus 8. Now he’s taking to Twitter to tell the world that he feels guilty and thinks the kids are suffering emotionally by being on the show with their mom, Kate Gosselin. What do you think?
Jon Gosselin isn’t going to win any Father of the Year awards. After separating from his wife Kate in 2009, he left the kids behind to go gallivanting around the globe with his then-girlfriend Hailey Glassman. Now that his ex-wife and the kids — 10-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn and 6-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, Joel — are starring in their own show for TLC Kate Plus 8, Jon is suddenly back on daddy duty and fighting to keep the kids out of the spotlight. “I do not believe being on TV is beneficial to any of them,” he Tweeted today (Oct. 15).
Jon went to court on Wednesday (Oct. 13) hoping that a judge would take away Kate’s right to film the kids for TLC. When the judge denied his plea request, Jon took to Twitter to tell his side of the story. “I honor the judge’s decision, but I do not support it. I do not believe being on TV is beneficial to any of them,” tweeted Jon. “They are no longer toddlers that are oblivious to what is going on around them. They are in school and desperately in need of a normal life.”
His kids being bullied and picked on are major worries for Jon. “Each of them has experienced negative effects of having their lives so public. Some are struggling with emotional and/or behavioral issues. My goal for my children is for them to have a normal childhood,” says Jon, who swears that he still supports his family financially. “I am supporting my children to the best of my ability. I am and have been actively seeking employment. I have been barred from accepting entertainment deals that would generate income for my family due to contractual obligations. I am also actively looking for a job outside of the entertainment industry and so far, have not secured a position. In the mean time, I have been focusing on spending time with my children and providing a safe, stable, normal and private environment for them!”
While he was unsuccessful this time, Jon insists that he will not rest until his kids lives are no longer being filmed. “I will not stop fighting to remove my children from television. I would like to apologize to my friends, family, and especially my children for not taking a stand earlier in my life and not questioning my decisions to have our lives documented and displayed. I will have to answer to my children for the rest of my life. I will have to live with this guilt the rest of my life. I am truly sorry!” he adds.
HollyMoms, do you sympathize with Jon? Or are you a fan of Kate and her show and hope that Kate Plus 8 continues until the kids go to college?
