Rob and Kristen Rumored For Oscar Nods — Are They The Next Brangelina?

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart attract attention virtually everywhere they go and can’t escape the flashes of paparazzi cameras. Now with rumored Oscar buzz attached to both their names, the hot Hollywood duo is shaping up to be Tinsel Town’s newest power couple!

Brangelina better watch out because Kristen Stewart, 20, and Robert Pattinson, 24, are hot on their heels when it comes to owning the Hollywood spotlight. The two have garnered a lot of praise for their recent film roles, Rob as Jacob Jankowski in Water For Elephants and Kristen as Mallory in Welcome to the Rileys, putting the Breaking Dawn co-stars and real-life couple in contention for Oscar gold!

Kristen has undoubtedly proven to skeptic critics that she has real acting chops. Playing a believable 16-year old runaway turned prostitute is no easy feat and in a recent interview backstage at The Tonight Show, Kristen talked about her secret to bringing fictional characters to life.

“It’s always different. If you’re playing a fictional character they should be real in your head.”

Her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, has also impressed movie critics with his role in Water For Elephants. Although Rob says he picks parts based on how they call out to him and not for potential Oscar gold, his portrayal of a college dropout who becomes a traveling circus veternarian could potentially place that little gold statue on his bookcase.

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he were to receive an Oscar nod for this role,” an insider from the set told HollywoodLife.com.

Plus, when Rob’s Elephants co-star, Christoph Waltz, was asked by fans where he kept his Oscar (he won the Supporting Actor trophy this year for Inglorious Basterds) on the Filmore, Calif. set, he responded, “It’s in my house, but the way things are looking, I might have to hand it off to Rob next year!”

Rob and Kristen wouldn’t be the first Hollywood couple to be nominated for Oscars during the same award season. Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger were both nominated for their work in Brokeback Mountain and Brad Pitt was nominated for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button alongside is partner Angelina Jolie in Changeling.

If they have perfected the dynamics between Edward and Bella… I think they can do better in a variety of roles.

You should ask who will win the Razzie first. RPatz or the Stewart girl. RPatz got a worst supporting actor nomination for New Moon for his 10 minutes of crappy acting. The Stewart girl probably deserves a nom but she does good small films in the between time. RPatz and Razzie favorite Pierce Brosnan can battle it out for worst actor next year. I am a Razzie voter and there is a forum for RM. RPatz may win for his portrayal of Edward in Craplight 3 too. The Stewart girl will never be taken seriously unless she does more good movies to make everyone forget Craplight.

You fail again Hollywoodlife. Water for Elephants doesn’t come out until April 2011 so it will be inelgible for this years Oscar. Kristen has a very, very, very slim chance. Some journalists are saying Rileys has a better chance at the Independent Spirit awards. Kristen is only 20 so she has time. I don’t care about Rob either way but at least get the facts straight.

Rob on winning Drama Actor Choice in TCA for Remember Me

“it is great to win something that is not Twilight”

both Rob and Kristen could not wait to have Twilight movies behind them and have serious acting careers

Rob is great in Remember Me

I believe so many people’s opinions are skewed by the fact that they are pathetic jealous haters. Most of the time these opinions are based only on the Twilight movies which they don’t like anyway. These people don’t bother to check out Rob’s and Kristen’s past performances in other movies in which a lot of critics said they were good. Thank you HL for writing something that’s true for once.

I don’t understand why one has to be jealous to dislike the performance of an actor or actress. It doesn’t make sense. I personally decided to give both of them a chance and viewed a majority of their movies. Rob’s performances are hard to get into. Kristen is extremely repetitve. I did enjoy a few moments of them which gave me a glimpse of what is to come. Personally, both their upcoming films seem promising but I’m afraid their co-stars may over power them.
I can’t see Oscars right now. If they do recieve them I don’t think it will be deserved. My opinion.

Is this the same “Oscar buzz” she was getting for Adventureland? The Runaways? Speak? The Cake Eaters? Because if it is, I can’t wait to see Carey Mulligan buzz away with the much deserved award. The reason Kristen will never win an Oscar is because her idea of a “daring” role is the same character with different names. They’re all lip biting stuttering non-emotional twits who she butchers beyond any form of “acting”.

Her people need to stop pushing this Oscar buzz thing and point her in the direction of an acting class and decent roles.

Your poll is skewed. You should have asked which of them we want to see get an Oscar, and that would be Robert. KS is always the same, gasping, blinking, her mouth hanging open. Even in the clip of WTTR they showed on the Tonight show, watch it, she’s a mouth breather. It isn’t acting if you do it in every single movie. Water for Elephants is going to be phenomenal. Let’s not forget The Runaways was a huge bomb, no one wants to pay to see her on screen. She needs the big co-stars.

Remember Me bombed harder as a PG-13 wide release with a big marketing campaign. It is considered one of the worst movies of the year. Kristen is getting award buzz but Rob isn’t, so say what you want but there’s nothing to back up your reasoning.

I can definitely see it. Welcome to the Rileys is Oscar worthy. Don’t follow Mr. Pattinson’s career, so I could not say. His performances in Twilight are very horrible though, no emotions are shown.

WTTR was originally at Sundance and they decided to release it because of Kristen’s overwhelming success and fame in the film industry . Many people have already seen it.

Is this a joke? Because kristin can’t act her way out of a paper bag. All she does is bite her bottom lip to convey every emotion. And raising your right eyebrow seriously isn’t acting either.

I sort of hope not. You know the Oscar curse!
When someone wins an Oscar they break up, or have an affair with their lover.
It happened to Reese Witherspoon, Halle Barry, Sandra Bullock, and two other that I can’t think of their name.

I agree with that comment though on Oscar jinx like Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and their hubbies . But Brangelina did not broke up after Oscars maybe cos they are not legally married lol

Rob will do just fine. He has the acting talent, good personality and strikingly good looks that are needed in this business. Kristen on the other hand needs to get over her lip biting, excessive blinking, blank stares, stuttering and her bitchy attitude if she wants to survive in this business.

I hope Rob gets an oscar nod in the future. He has the makings of a great and brilliant actor. I don’t know if it will be with his upcoming movies but he definitely has the ability to make it happen before he turns 30.
