EXCLUSIVE! 'Glee' Insider: How Mark Salling's Music Career Caused His Sudden Disappearance from Show!

Mark Salling was conspicuously missing from Glee Oct. 12 — they shipped him off to ‘juvenile hall’ — and HollywoodLife.com has learned why he’s gone, and when he’s coming back!

McKinley High School’s bad boy Puck (played by Mark Salling), was banished to juvenile hall in the first scene of the Oct. 12 episode of Glee — and a source on the set tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively why Mark, 28, was sent away.

We’re told that Mark may have breached his contract by pursuing his own music career too aggressively. “Mark has been really focused on his own music and it’s actually gotten in the way of his Glee stuff,” our insider explains.

Mark has been very public about his rock-jazz fusion self-titled “Mark Salling” band which has released two albums, Smoke Signals in 2008 and Pipe Dreams just this month. According to our source, Glee execs are unhappy about Mark putting his music before the TV show — and were willing to axe his character to lay down the law.

Mark doesn’t appear to care. “His band means the world to him and he thinks that’s more important than the show at this point,” the source tells us.

Luckily, for all you Puck lovers out there, Mark’s not gone for good.

“Mark is gone for another episode, but he’s coming back for episode six,” a different Glee insider tells us, adding, “He’s featured a ton in that episode — it’s basically all about him.”

Whew…what a relief! As much as we love Mark’s commitment to his group, we want Puck back on our TVs every Tuesday night!

I think Ryan Murphy have Chord Overstreet in mind to replace Marks Salling soon exits. Promoting album/single is a hard work and craving more time and Marks attention to spread it to every radio stations, shows and every gigs considering rock-jazz music is his truly passion. My guess, that is the reason why Chord(Sam) role was changed than early plan him being the future boyfriend of Kurt. Suddenly he has more scenes and more camera quick angles than any permanent male cast members. I think Ryan Murphy and his production are trying very hard to please the fans and change their minds away from Mark Salling (Puck) role. Have anyone noticed how many shower scenes Chord(Sam)have, a good reason to show him half-naked, or often times wearing sleeveless shirts to exposed his big muscles? And I can see the next promo “Horror” episode, Chord(Sam) is half-naked again, adding “Finn and Mr. Shue” sexy abs making it more exciting! I will not be surprised if Harry Shum, jr appears to be half-naked too!

Bad Boy Puck should be returned to McKinney High School to the song, “Bad Bad Leroy Brown” as he walks down the hall. All the Glee kids can sing it. Would love to see Puck knocking over the bullies as they are bullying kids. The bullies run from the kids and in a way all the kids see him as their hero and the girls fawn over him. He is really the knight in shinning armor for the Glee kids as they don’t get slushied when Puck is around due to all of his badness. And the juvie thing. It isn’t the real story. Puck’s mom was sick and Puck had to drive the car. But his foot slipped off the brake and he drove into the ATM which got stuck on the bumper and pulled it out. A complete accident. Who does he confide in Finn and Mr. Shue. Why does he let the rumors continue to escalte his status.
