Brains beat beauty as last week’s winner held off ‘Life As We Know It’ and ‘Secretariat’ for a second week at number one!
It is, once again, a great weekend to be a nerd as The Social Network held off new openers Life As We Know It and Secretariat to claim the top spot at the weekend box office. The film’s $15.9 million pull, as reported by our sister site Deadline Hollywood, brings its total cume. to just under $50 million. Very impressive.
Not faring quite as well were the Katherine Heigl / Josh Duhamel romantic comedy Life with $14.6 million and Disney’s feel good Secretariat, which only managed $12.6 million. Rounding out the top 5 were the animated flick Legends of the Guardian with $7 million and new horror opener My Soul to Take with $6.9 million.
The Social Network should face stiff competition next week when the sure to be big Jackass 3D opens.
