Lindsay Lohan has had a hard time learning to manage her addictions. While making progress at the Betty Ford Center, the focus has turned to her obsessive need to tweet and email for emotional support.

Everyday it’s a new battle for 24-year-old Lindsay Lohan. If she’s not throwing drinks at ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson at a club, hanging out in court, getting hauled off to jail or being thrown into rehab, she’s on Twitter venting about it all and looking for attention from anyone and everyone who’s willing to give her a second of their time.

There’s no doubt she’s messed up and new reports are saying part of her rehabilitation is weaning her off the online connections she uses as a crutch in her most emotional times of need. Sources told the New York Post that Lindsay’s addiction to online communications is totally out-of-hand.

“Before, she would repeatedly and compulsively e-mail her friends if she was ever in a situation where she felt lonely, and she would vent on Twitter,” a source shared.

Limiting phone use is a common practice at the Betty Ford Center who believe it gives patients the opportunity to focus on themselves.

While in rehab, Lindsay is “only allowed to use her phone for two hours a day, and only to keep in touch with family and close friends.”

Close family includes Lindsay’s mom, Dina Lohan, who many say has been one of Lindsay’s biggest enablers. Fortunately for the Lohan clan, they have people to lean on, including Kardashian family patriarch, Kris Jenner. Kris has stuck by the Lohan’s as one of their biggest supporters, giving Dina some sanity as she deals with her daughter’s precarious situation and crumbled career.

“Kris has been offering support and had Dina stay with her in LA when Lindsay appeared in court.”

Even Kim Kardashian, has extended her friendship to Lindsay in hopes of being a positive influence once she is released from rehab.

“Kim doesn’t party, doesn’t touch drugs and doesn’t really drink,” one source said.

Lindsay is scheduled to be out of rehab Oct. 22, only to return to court to face charges brought against her for failing a mandatory drug test. She may return to the confines of Lynwood Correctional Facility to serve more time as punishment for her probation violation. However, should the judge deem her better off in rehab, Lindsay’s stay at the Betty Ford center could be indefinite.

We hope for Lindsay’s sake and for the sake of everyone in the twitter-verse that she can make her rehabilitation stick. Fourth times a charm, right?
