The Gossip lead singer makes her runway debut for the high fashion line proving it is not just waif thin skinny girls who can walk a runway!

With a body that is far larger than even plus-sized models, Beth Ditto took to the catwalk in Paris Oct. 2 as she opened the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring / Summer 2011 presentation! The Gossip singer, who has her own clothing line with Evans, a British retailer, and is close friends with supermodel Kate Moss, not only opened the show, but also closed it to massive applause from the audience!

What do you think about fashion’s newest runway walker? Is it just a gimmick or is this something that may stick?

Honestly, this woman is not healthy, she is obese. At a size 28, she is way larger than she should be. Many complications can occur with obesity including heart disease, diabetes, cancers, hypertension and many many others. Obesity is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide – putting models on the runway promoting it is just as bad as sending models down the runway lighting up a cig.

Yes, most women arent a size zero. And while a large majority of women might be a similar size of this woman, it’s because 63% of Americans are obese! How about putting some average sized women on the runway that are healthy? Size 12, 10, 8…these women are average sized and healthy. Why is it always one extreme or the other?

Bye bye Anorexic girls! Hello real life women :)
We work hard, we don’t always have time to go to the gym, we live and we eat. And we look gorgeous with our sexy curves! Men want big boobs and a butt. And we have it. We no longer have to be ashamed of who we are.

I think it’s a great idea. Woman are not a size “0″, normal woman are a size like say 8 and up, and being a size not a 0 doesn’t make you plus size. Another thing that would be nice is when you look at web sites or even magazines for plus size stuff don’t have a girl that’s a size 0 wearing it, because then it looks like a tent on the girl.

i only know of beth vaguely, but really love the idea of her (despite the fact that perez also loves her)… love the idea of her opening a show, even if it is a gimmick. would be great to see non-stick figures, more than one, thrown into every show here and there, if not everywhere.

Probably a gimmick, but still nice to see. Now watch the haters breed like cockroaches on hormones….
