The Project Runway star looked timeless with a retro updo. Check out how you can steal her look!
Last night on the red carpet, all eyes were on Heidi Klum at the amFAR Milano 2010 red carpet gala. The star gave us serious Hollywood glamour reminscent of the 1930’s with a sleek, sculpted updo complete with finger waves. This is a refreshing break from all the voluminous hair we’ve seen on the red carpet as of late. How do you get your own sculpted updo? Read on…
Wash and blow hair sleek as normal. Separate a section of the front of your hair (bangs if you have them) from the left arch of your eyebrow over to the opposite ear and clip it away from the rest of your hair. Run a great styling gel with hold and shine like Frederic Fekkai Coif Extra Styling Gel through the back section of your hair and pull it into a ponytail, then secure it with an invisible elastic like the ones in this Sephora Collection Snag-Free Elastics package. Twist the ponytail around itself until it forms a bun around the ponytail elastic, then secure it with bobby pins the same color as your hair, like these Scunci No Slip Bobby Pins. Flat iron the front section of your hair, then apply styling gel to the entire section and secure it. Place three fingers on the front section and pull your fingers together to create waves, then place flat styling pins like these Luxor Lock-Up Styling Pins where the waves have occurred. Let the style cool or use a cool setting on your hair dryer to set the style more quickly. Remove the pins and secure the front with pins underneath if necessary. Spray the entire style with a great holding hairspray and you’re set for the night!
