Why Would Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Keep Suri Out Way Past Her Bedtime?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes take their daughter, Suri, with them pretty much everywhere they go. But bringing the 4-year-old tyke along on their late-night meal in Prague looked like a really bad idea.

Fact: Children need their sleep. Fact: You shouldn’t keep them up past their bedtime as it can lead to tears and tantrums. While in the Czech Republic scouting locations, Tom Cruise and his wife, Katie Holmes, decided to grab a late-night meal at a local Italian restaurant, La Finestra. We don’t blame the couple — who will celebrate their third wedding anniversary in November — for wanting to enjoy a romantic candle-lit dinner together, but they should have thought twice before bringing 4-year-old Suri along. She looks so tired in the picture above as she rubbed her sleepy eyes and Tom even had to pick her up and carry her the rest of the way back to the hotel, while Mom took care of the stroller full of Suri’s toys. HollyMoms, do you ever take your kids out to restaurants late at night?

Keeping Suri out late goes against what Katie recently said about the importance of sticking to a schedule. “We travel a lot, and so for me, it’s keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes,” she says in the October issue of Marie Claire.

Perhaps in Europe it’s perfectly acceptable to keep kids up late, but one American mom thinks parents like Tom and Katie are committing a major no-no. “It’s so hard for me to see someone bringing a child out past their bedtime. That’s child abuse!” says realty TV star Kendra Wilkinson, 25. “I’m a strong believer in routine,” she adds. We want to know if you agree with Kendra?

No, it’s not child abuse. Geesh. Is everything child abuse now? It’s definitely not a smart decision, and I do think you should not go to dinner really late with your child, but why does it not say how late it was?

If this is a once is a blue moon thing, then Kendra is exaggerating. Every parents has had their kids out later than they should, but I do question why they didn’t just have the nanny feed Suri at her proper dinner time and have her in bed on time. It was very selfish of Kate and Tom to have her out when she clearly should be in bed. Even if the little one threw a tantrum because she wanted to go – it would have subsided as soon as her parents were out of her sight and she would have been asleep in minutes. Between this, and letting her out in the winter without proper clothing, and bending to her every whim, no matter how bad it is for her, they really aren’t very good at parenting, are they?
