Madonna's Little Girl Is All Grown Up! But Should 13-Year-Old Lourdes Be Wearing Such High Heels?

When Lourdes showed up at the launch of her new clothing line, Material Girl, wearing sky-high stiletto boots and ripped tights, we couldn’t help but wonder if she’s dressing a bit too sexy for a teen?

Madonna and her daughter Lourdes Leon were the biggest stars in the Big Apple last night (Sept. 23) at the launch of their new Material Girl clothing line at Macy’s. “I’ve always been really interested in fashion,” Lourdes a.k.a. Lola tells The teenager cites her mom’s style in the ’80s as being a huge inspiration for her line, but from the looks of her on the red carpet, she’s also a fan of ’90s grunge. And when it comes to teen fashion, Lourdes sees big changes on the horizon. “A whole new scene is coming in. The geek chic is totally where we’re going,” she reveals. She may be a teenage fashionista, but we’re not sure if we’d let our 13-year-old daughter leave the house if she was dressed the same way as Lourdes.

These celebrity kids are spitting images of their parents!

“I think the ’80s are really back right now,” adds Lourdes. But Manhattan-based psychotherapist and advice columnist, Jonathan Alpert, points out that two decades ago young teens weren’t dressing nearly as sexy as Lourdes. Even Madonna, 52, admitted that when she was Lourdes’ age she was wearing “brown corduroy bell-bottoms” instead of miniskirts and ripped-up tights. “Tweens and teenagers are inundated with images of super-sexy models,” Jonathan tells “This over-sexualization of teens sends an unhealthy message that one’s worth is determined by how hot, sexy and thin she may be. This can lead to low self-confidence and a perpetual self-criticism that’s based purely on these unhealthy cultural standards.”

She may let her daughter wear high heels and super-short skirts but Madonna does have some rules for the high school freshman. Lola’s not allowed to date or dye her hair yet. In fact, the singer has worked hard to make sure that her daughter is down-to-earth despite her privileged upbringing. “It does require a lot of time and effort and paying attention,” she says. “I always have two reactions when Lola comes into my room with an outfit on. One is, ‘Oh, my God, she looks amazing — what incredible style. And then my second reaction is, ‘She’s dressed completely inappropriately for school,'” says Madonna. But we want to know, HollyMoms, would you ever let your 13-year-old daughter leave the house dressed like Lourdes?
