I’ve been closely following the fifth season of NBC’s hit talent show, BUT my jaw dropped wide open and stayed that way, when Michael Grimm was announced the winner last night!
I must admit I’m not a huge fan of reality competition shows like American Idol or SYTYCD, but this past season of America’s Got Talent has been an obsession of mine! I’ve been very vocal about wanting the adorable 10-year-old phenomenon, Jackie Evancho to win, and let me tell you, that little girl was robbed on the season finale Sept. 15!
I thought the Pennsylvania native with the angelic voice had it in the bag when she performed the beloved song “Ave Maria” in the finals, but obviously not! I realize that Michael Grimm, 30, has a beautiful voice too, and yes I loved his version of “When A Man Loves A Woman” … but come on — we have enough singers like Michael! Michael’s talent is supposed to be discovered on shows like American Idol, a show which Jackie isn’t even old enough to compete on!
Judge Piers Morgan said he believed Michael was “genuine, sincere and talented” and so do I, but Jackie hands down was the bigger talent — and isn’t that what this is about?
Either way, I’m happy Jackie got the exposure she deserves, and I’m sure she’ll go on to be a mega-superstar. But I’m sticking to my opinion HollywoodLifers: Jackie should have won!

You could not have been more right I have no idea how he could have won it. I have heard rumors but that’s a talent show not a hard luck show, Jackie was the winner and there is no changing my mind he did not even come close to her singing talent.
