The couple, who have been dating for seven years, are finally set to walk down the aisle in the summer of 2011 — perhaps on the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
After years of speculation it appears that Prince William is finally ready to take the marriage plunge and will be marrying longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton in July or August of 2011. A senior source told the Daily Mail, “A date has been earmarked for a royal wedding next year.” It looks like the world’s most eligible bachelor is officially off the market!
The push likely came as a result of the couple’s inability to marry in the summer of 2012 with the London Olympics and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee both taking place. The nupitals are said to be taking place at Westminster Abbey, the same site where William’s mother, Princess Diana, had her funeral.
In honor of his late mother, it is said the couple may choose Aug. 31, the date of her death, as their wedding day.
Adding fuel to this rumor is William’s long standing claim he would be married by the age of 28. Both William and Kate are 28-years-old.
Kate is said to be thrilled to finally be marrying the Prince after waiting years for the engagement. A spokesperson however simply had this to say, “The only two people who know anything about their future plans are Prince William and Kate Middleton.”
