It takes a lot to get Late Night host David Letterman to show some real emotion, but his guest and longtime friend Michael Douglas broke through the Letterman ice on the Aug. 31 show when he talked with Dave about how he is battling Stage IV throat cancer.
Michael joked with Dave, “I found out I had cancer three weeks ago, about the same time I found out I was coming on your show.”
“There couldn’t possibly be a medical connection with that,” Dave banters back, adding, “but you’ve never looked better to me. This proves you’re a tough guy.”
“I feel like I want to do something for you?” Dave says. “Can I do something for you?”
“Ahhh give me a hug,” Michael says.
And he does! It’s a very sweet moment between two longtime buddies and was enough to make even the most seasoned entertainment watchers tear up. We want in on that hug!!!
