Kate Hudson Admits Raising Her Son Ryder With Her Ex-Husband Is 'Hard.' Do You Agree?

The actress and her ex, Black Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson, still share in the raising of their son, Ryder, but she admits it’s not always easy.

Kate Hudson may not be married to Black Crowes front man Chris Robinson anymore, but that doesn’t mean the two aren’t talking all the time and both completely involved in raising their 6-year-old son, Ryder. The 31-year-old actress praised her ex (who has moved on with a new wife and baby) during an interview with Elle magazine in the UK.

“When you’re divorced and raising a child together, the communication has to stay alive,” she told Elle UK. “It’s hard sometimes. If you have kids with someone, make sure you really, really like the father because, for your child’s sake, you have to be on the same page forever. Chris has moved on, he’s remarried and had a baby and when you both have new people in your life, you have to really stay on it. I think Chris and I both have that priority checked.”

With celebs like Mel Gibson and the Gosselins using their kids as pawns in their nasty battles, it’s refreshing to see Kate and stars like Halle Berry putting their children first.

While her ex has moved on, and Kate is now dating Muse singer Matthew Bellamy, she tells the magazine that she’s in no rush to walk down the aisle again, saying, “It’s definitely not something I’m looking for.” But that doesn’t mean she’s given up on love.

“I think a lot of times people are terrified of love and stop themselves from experiencing it,” she says. “I don’t ever want to get that jaded. I do believe in love. I believe that when you really open yourself up to love, it’s the most beautiful thing.”
