Want to get the star’s glowing beauty look for practically nothing? Here’s how!
So you know we’ve been RAVING about the gorgeous beauty look that Claire Danes was rocking on the Emmys red carpet. The glowing skin, the smoky eyes, the stunning hair – sheer perfection, right? But, here’s the deal: Claire’s got access to the top hair, makeup, stylists and spas known to man (not to mention a movie star salary.) How does a mere mortal on a regular budget get that totally smoking red carpet look? Well, I’m going to tell you how. Here are the eight tools you need to make this look work and you can get all of them at your local drugstore or superstore:
The first thing you need is glowing skin. I’m not going to advocate tanning but I will advocate self-tanner if you need to add a little color. Jergens Natural Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer is one of the best products out there that builds gradually for a great, healthy glow. For those of you who already have the skin color that you desire, just add a good healthy shine. I’m absolutely crazy for Vaseline Aloe Fresh Moisturizing Daily Body Gel. Here’s a tip with the Vaseline gel: apply it right out of the shower and just let your skin naturally dry. It will lock in the water in the shower and give you super hydrated skin.
Every woman should get their hands on a good bronzer, like Physicians Formula Bronze Booster. It’s got luminizing properties to help give you a sun-kissed glow with a touch of luminizer for a spectacular look. Dust it where the sun would normally hit you if you were wearing sunglasses: forehead, cheekbones, down your nose and a little on your chin. Ladies with darker skin might want to simply try a translucent powder, like Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer in Waikiki Strip. Apply it the same way for a gorgeous glow.
Smoky eyes are totally easy now thanks to CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast Shadow Stick. Use this dual-ended pencil to create a perfect nighttime eye: run the lighter side across your lid and then use the darker end along the lash line, up into the crease and along the lower lash line to create a dramatic effect. Build gradually for more drama. Add a good amount of mascara, like CoverGirl LastBlast Fusion, which adds volume AND length. I live for this mascara. Use it.
Here is the one product I will tell you to spend money on: get yourself a Stila Convertible Color compact. Here’s why: you can use it as blush AND lip gloss (and as eyeshadow in a pinch.) If you want Claire’s sun-drenched glow, get the compact in Gladiola. Use your fingers and run a streak across the apples of your cheeks, down your nose and a dot on your chin. Blend.
One of the biggest trends for fall is lipstick and Claire was working a beautiful pinkish-nude that balanced her strong eyes. When it comes to lipstick, buy the best you can afford because once you love it, you’ll buy it all the time. I live for L’oreal Color Riche lipstick and I’d recommend it in Peach Fuzz for fair to medium complexions,Toasted Almond for medium to tan complexions and Cinnamon Toast for ladies with a tan-to-dark complexion.
What are you waiting for? Summer’s almost over and you need to rock this bronzed goddess look soon. It’s time for your own paparazzi moment. Get “glowing,” ladies!
