Want flowing locks like the Modern Family star? Here’s how to get the look!
We all know that the world is madly in love with Sofia Vergara, especially her sultry beauty look from the Emmys red carpet. Want to know the fun thing about those flowing mermaid locks? That look was created using drugstore favorite Suave. Yes! I reached out to celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho, who created Sofia’s soft goddess waves to get the low down on her gorgeous ‘do. Here’s what she had to say:
Tell us about the inspiration for the look. We understand it was part of a contest? The inspiration for Sofia’s look was to keep the hair glamorous and yes, a few weeks ago we created three different looks for Sofia and asked America to vote for their favorite on the Suave Beauty Facebook page. The most popular vote for Sofia’s Emmys red carpet look was for the glamorous waves look you saw on the red carpet because it fits America’s vision of Sofia as a glamour queen: touchable, sexy hair with movement and bounce.
How can Hollywood Life readers create the look for themselves? I recommend prepping your hair with the new Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner to add moisture and shine. While the hair’s still wet, add Suave Professionals Volumizing Foam Mousse (which adds bounce and volume) and blow your hair dry with a round brush. Spray Suave Professionals Freeze Hold Finishing Spray on individual sections of the hair, then using a medium barrel curling iron, curl and set the hair (tip: curl the hair away from the face using your cheek bones as a guide, which opens up your face.) Let the curls cool while you do your makeup. When the curls have cooled, tease the crown of your hair for extra volume and use your fingers to break up the curls, then finish the look with Suave Professionals Volumizing Hairspray, which is the best lightweight hair spray. I love it because it locks in the style so well.
On what type of hair does this work best? The greatest thing about this glamorous hairstyle is that it’s great for every hair type of some length and it works for every face shape. All you need are just few great salon quality products like the Suave Professionals items I used on Sofia.
On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is extremely difficult, how hard is this for women to recreate at home? What are some tips to make this as easy as possible? Even though thicker hair can be a little more time consuming, you can recreate this look in under fifteen minutes on your own, so I would say it’s not so hard. I would recommend working in sections so you have more control over your hair using section clips, which are readily available at your local drugstore or beauty supply store.
Think you’re ready to try Sofia’s gorgeous red carpet look? Take Jenny’s advice into your bathroom and give it a shot. After all, it wouldn’t hurt!
