‘True Blood’ dialed back the sex scenes as everyone got some shocking news this week, including the long awaited announcement of just what Sookie is — a fairy?!
This week’s episode was jam packed with reveals, murders, and the introduction of at least four new supernatural forces in the now seemingly humanless Bon Temps. First, and foremost, we have finally learned after 3 long seasons just what Sookie (Anna Paquin) is — a fairy. It seemed she was speaking for the audience when she responded to the news, “How f***ing lame!” Indeed.
That wasn’t all either! We found out Jason’s (Ryan Kwanten) love interest is a panther, of sorts, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is a conjurer, and his new squeeze Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) is a sorcerer. It’s kind of like a fun Disney movie at this point!
- Tara (Rutina Wesley) got screwed over by a, wait for it, man! What a stunning new character arch producers! After thanking and making out with Jason following his heroic murder of crazed vampire rapist Franklin (James Frain), Jason informs Tara this isn’t actually the first time he’s offed one of her boyfriends. She doesn’t take it well.
- Speaking of murderers, it appears good old Sam (Sam Trammell) actually has killed not one, but two individuals back in the day. First the love interest who screwed him over and then the man with whom she screwed him over. This will no doubt impress younger brother Tommy (Marshall Allman) but everyone else, not so much.
- Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) meanwhile is preparing for imminent death by leaving everything he owns to Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten). Remember when the third season poster came out and everyone got excited because it featured Pam and we all thought, ‘Finally! More Pam storylines!’ Well that seems to not really be happening.
- Lastly, everyone’s favorite news anchor killer Russell (Denis O’Hare) decided to indulge in some crazy person behavior by sleeping with a prostitute while holding on to Talbot’s (Theo Alexander) visage, crying bloody tears all over the man’s body, and then staking him in the heart. I am going to miss this guy a lot when Eric finally defeats him cause, come on, no one is watching this show if Eric leaves.
