Taylor insists she didn’t call Rihanna a poser — not intentionally, at least.
Taylor Momsen, 17, might have insinuated that Rihanna isn’t a real rockstar in a recent interview with Spin magazine, but the Gossip actress now swears she didn’t mean to accuse her of being a poser! “I wasn’t insulting [her],” Taylor told the UK’s T4 on Aug. 22. “Rihanna’s great.” What Taylor meant to say is that we live in a “pop-oriented world” right now, and that her band, The Pretty Reckless, is “looking to bring back a real rock band.”
Here’s her full explanation:
“I was arguing the difference between rock vs. pop, and that’s it’s a very pop-oriented world at the moment, and that there is no rock,” Taylor explained. “There are people who dress, or have guitars in their music. For audiences, that’s the closest thing to rock they have right now, and we’re looking to bring back a real rock band.”
When Taylor’s guitarist reference Eminem and Rihanna’s song “Love the Way You Lie,” Taylor was quick to sing its praises: “It’s awesome,” she chimed in. “That’s a great song.”
