After making $216-million in worldwide box office sales in only one month, experts tell there should — without a doubt — be an entire Salt franchise!

Once again, Angelina Jolie has proven she’s box office gold…especially when it comes to action movies. Since hitting US theaters July 19, her latest flick, Salt, has racked up a whopping $216-million in worldwide ticket sales — already surpassing The Bourne Identity (which made $214 million in 2002), and ensuring Hollywood insiders that Sony would be crazy NOT to turn the action film into an entire series.

“They should ABSOLUTELY turn Salt into a franchise like the Bourne series,” longtime producer, actor and writer Ric Reitz tells “It’s an action-adventure film with a female lead, which is rare. You combine that kind of mega star power with it being well-conceived and produced, and that’s an unbeatable combination. It’s a gold mine!”

Producer and casting director, Lauren Lloyd, agrees 31-year-old Angelina Jolie has the “it” factor that will make audiences flock to movie theaters to buy tickets.

“She’s the best, most interesting and compelling star there is today,” Lauren — who is also the creator of Big Is Good TV — explains. “She’s so interesting to watch. Every move she makes feels true. Boys, beware! Angelina is a wonderful actress and completely gorgeous to watch…she’s badass.”

According to the LA Times, Sony executives have been waiting to see if Salt makes enough money to warrant a sequel, which it seemingly has at this point. Angelina has also said she’s completely on board with a Salt series.

“I hope so, for everybody—if they want to see more of Salt,” she said at the film’s London premiere Aug. 16. “I love doing action. I love to punch things, jump off things and shoot…so I’m lucky I got the job.”

Because of the film’s tough physical nature, Reitz thinks Angie should start making sequels sooner, rather than later.

“If she’s not planning on expanding her family anytime soon, now might be a good time,” he explains, adding, “It just gets more difficult to do stunts the older you get.”

Thankfully, since wrapping The Tourist with Johnny Depp, Angelina is only rumored to be attached to certain projects and has no new films in the hopper…so perhaps a Salt sequel isn’t that far off. Do YOU want to see more of Evelyn Salt?
