The Special Olympics folks are VERY disappointed that a celebrity with Jen’s influence would use the word ‘retard’ on national television like she did this morning on Regis & Kelly!
Jennifer Aniston, you need to watch your mouth! After hearing that you used the word “retard” on Regis & Kelly this morning, the Special Olympics powers-that-be are NOT happy!
“Special Olympics is always disappointed when the R-word is used, especially by someone who is influential to society. The pervasive use of the R-word, even in an off the cuff self-deprecating manner, dehumanizes people with intellectual disabilities and perpetuates painful stereotypes that are a great source of suffering and negative stigma,” Kirsten Suto Seckler, Vice President of Branding & Communications at Special Olympics tells HollywoodLife.com. ” We hope everyone will take our pledge to stop using the R-word and promote the inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities at http://www.r-word.org.”
The 41-year-old actress probably didn’t know she would cause such controversy while innocently discussing her Barbra Streisand Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot with host Regis Philbin August 19. “You’re playing dress up!” Regis said, to which The Switch star replied, “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!”

Are we really surprised she used the “R” word? It’s true Jennifer never speaks eloquently. She always “ums & pauses in her sentences. Like her movies she is a bore to listen to. She’s not very articulate & it shows. Unlike Angie, the UN will never recruit Jennifer. Most of Jen’s interviews are choppy at best, she just doesn’t use dialogue very well. Maybe she’s high from all that pot she smokes. Yeah We Know Jen!
