One’s a teenage murderer, and the other’s just a really stressed out mom — but they were BOTH acting crazy in the season premiere.
Does anyone else remember when Weeds was just a sweet, innocent show about dealing pot in the suburbs? The Aug. 16 premiere made it pretty clear that we’re never seeing Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker) living normally again anytime soon. Picking up right where season four left off, Nancy’s son Shane (Alexander Gould) showed no remorse for killing his step-father’s evil boss, Pilar, and once again Nancy had to scheme up an escape plan. It’s no wonder she hit the bottle — hard!
Add to the list of reasons behind Nancy’s insanity that her relationship with her pseudo brother-in-law Andy (Justin Kirk) continued edging towards a very strange place. I have to admit I was on the Nancy-Andy train earlier in the series, but now it would just seem awkward and desperate.
Meanwhile, it’s hard to believe croquet-wielding nut job Shane is played by the same kid who voiced Nemo. Yes, as in Finding Nemo. He’s starting to make Dory look sane. Shane’s wiser older brother Silas (Hunter Parrish) pretty much hit the nail on the head when he called Shane a “psycho,” and Alanis Morissette‘s character, Audra, had a few choice words to describe Nancy — those words being “crazy f*****g b***h.”
Like mother, like son. But which Botwin is more bonkers, killer Shane or stressed-out Nancy?
