K-Stew gets the next best thing to her main man while shooting her latest film: his best friend has joined her cast!

The rumor mill was all abuzz when Kirsten Stewart was photographed with boyfriend Robert Pattinson’s BFF, Tom Sturridge, in Montreal earlier this week; it will be the second time the two have hung out sans R-Patz in a month! So what’s really going? Should Rob be worried?

The answer: nope! Tom’s rep confirmed that he’s actually joined the cast of Kristen’s new movie, On the Road! “He is filming in Canada at the moment for On The Road,” the rep said. His role is still unknown.

Although some of you thought it was weird that Tom and Kristen were spotted hanging out in LA without Rob in July, we think it’s nice that she’s got a good support system. And, luckily for Rob, his BFF can keep an eye on his girl to make sure no hanky panky goes on with hottie co-stars Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley!
