The former Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband, Josh Kelley, were afraid their adopted daughter, Naleigh, might be developing too slowly. But an expert says there’s no need to worry.
Katherine Heigl may think she’s “an obnoxious parent,” but it sounds to us like she’s just being a normal one. The 31-year-old actress told Us Magazine that she and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, 30, had been worried that their then-17-month-old daughter, Naleigh, wasn’t yet walking, though they’ve since relaxed a bit about it.
“I think Josh and I started to get like those obnoxious parents that are a little, like, ‘What’s wrong with her? Why isn’t she walking yet? What are we doing wrong?” she said of Naleigh, who is now 20 months old. “Now we’re, like, pushing her all day: start walking! But I figured we’re probably fine. She’ll start walking.”
According to Dr. David Hirsch on WebMD, it’s not really until a child’s second birthday that “they can walk unaided.” That means you’ve still got some time, Katherine!
