Catherine Zeta-Jones is mom to 9-year-old Dylan and 7-year-old Carys, but before she had her kids, she was terrified of motherhood.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of those women that comes to mind when you think “Supermom.” She juggles a career in the movies and on Broadway along with spending time with her husband, Michael Douglas, and two kids, making it all look easy and (we add somewhat enviously) glamorous. But surprisingly Catherine recently confessed that she never saw herself as the maternal type.
“I wasn’t the kind of girl who always wanted babies,” she admitted to Wales News. In fact, she was freaked out by the idea. “It was scary becoming a mother. I never played with dolls, so I didn’t know if I had it in me.” Once Dylan, 9, and Carys, 7, along though, she quickly took to motherhood. “My priorities changed when I had children,” she says. “I have to be passionate and committed about something if it’s going to take me away from them.”
Now Catherine, who is celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary with Michael next month, has discovered parts of herself she never knew existed. “I have a very motherly side to me,” she says, adding that her kids crack her up.”You learn so much from them every day, it’s wonderful.”
