The Aerosmith singer confirms that he’s been offered the job and will accept if his touring schedule allows it. We checked out his gigs – and guess what, BFFs? Steven is free to work with Fox!

Are you ready, BFFs? Here’s your next American Idol…judge. Steven Tyler has confirmed that he’s been offered the super-sweet gig!

“”This beautiful girl from Fox came up to me and made an offer. I honored her offer… and it’s just a work in progress,” the 62-year-old Aerosmith lead singer said on Dallas-based radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning August 2, adding, “They mentioned it and I listened, and we’re on tour, so I gotta give it some time.”

Yeah, Aerosmith IS on the road – but the last date of their “Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock” tour ends September 16 in Vancouver, Canada – months before the judges have to get down to work in January of

Although Liv Tyler’s dad is playing coy about the job he’s most certainly taking, saying, “I’m not confirming or denying it, it’s a beautiful thing. I was asked and that’s all I can say!” he DID reveal what kind of judge he’d actually be.

“Judge and jury,” he said. “I would be honest to the ones that think they have it. I would be truthful and sensitive to those that have it but don’t have it enough yet. I would call it exactly how I see it, if I was to do [the job].”

What do you think, BFFs? Do you think Steven Tyler would make a good replacement for Ellen, Kara or Simon on American Idol?

if randy is out, he can take his place, but he’s really not a replacement for simon. i can’t figure out what direction they’re taking with this thing, but so far it’s sounding like a big disaster. i was on my last legs with that show anyway, so i don’t really care…

Hey Russ…did you do a pg-13 edit of Steven Tyler’s remarks??
Anyway, I’d just as soon see Ozzy Osborne or Keith Richards if they’re going to go the brain-damaged old-rocker route.

ha….you mean that you could literally understand Steven Tyler’s speech as opposed to the other two.. true enough, but I was referring to the creepy-lewd-old-man remarks he made on the radio show. Sounds like Nigel Lythgoe’s hard at work finding an old perv friend for the show..that should go over real well with the folks in Kansas and Arkansas:)
