Who would have thought that New York Housewife Bethenny would love nursing her 3 month-old baby daughter almost non-stop … and that she’s become a big expert on the unlikely subject of … breast pumps?
The Real Housewives of New York City and Bethenny Getting Married? star, Bethenny Frankel, 39, just loves to breastfeed her 3 month-old daughter Bryn Hoppy! “I love the alone time with Bryn and the connection,” Bethenny tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “I’m in love with the entire thing — it’s just a peaceful time!”
Bethenny, who has partnered up with Ameda to promote their new “I breastfeed because” campaign, wants other moms to learn about the benefits of breastfeeding because she says she “didn’t know very much about” it before Bryn was born. “I’ve been vocal about it because I think it’s beautiful and people are intimidated,” Bethenny explains. “They feel like they’re alone in the process.”
And that’s why she’s opening up about her experiences with Bryn. “It’s a beautiful thing for mother and daughter to be together,” she says. “It’s something that only you can give your child.”
And that special connection makes Bethenny value feeding times with Bryn. “It’s got that intimate bond,” Bethenny tells us. “It’s a ritual and I like to be alone in my bedroom with Bryn. It’s quiet and it’s a moment.”
But with Bethenny’s crazy work schedule, it’s not always easy to find time to breastfeed. “I pump a lot,” Bethenny confesses. “One to three times a day” depending on her schedule for the day.
And, for Bethenny the pump has worked wonders. “It stimulates [production of milk like] the baby does,” she says. Plus, “you can take the pump with you and it has a cooler and a bag to make it stylish.”
The pump has also made feeding a whole family experience. “Jason [Bethenny's husband that she's been married to for 4 months] is the one who prepares the breast pump,” she says. Jason is so involved that he is even pushing Bethenny for another baby!
Bethenny is also starting to introduce formula into the mix as Bryn gets older. “I’m trying to get Bryn on a schedule,” she says. “But, for now, I don’t want to stop [breastfeeding completely] because I love the bond. I don’t even know if it’s for her or me anymore.”
