If you had to make the choice, would you choose family or love? Either way, you SHOULD choose Zac this weekend!

I’m always up for the perfect Friday night chick flick, and having Zac Efron as the star of said chick flick is simply a plus. Based on the Ben Sherwood novel, Charlie St. Cloud is a film I LOVED and would be more than willing to watch again and again.

After seeing the trailer, I thought I was prepared for the heartbreak early in the film that sets up the story. But the impact of watching Zac’s character lose his beloved younger brother still pulled at my heartstrings – and as I looked around the theater, I saw I was not alone.

I will admit that Zac and co-star Amanda Crew‘s eventual connection is when I really fell in love with the movie. Every girl in the theater was waiting for that moment – and I’ll be the first to say that it was written and directed perfectly!

If you’ve doubted that Zac had what it takes to move beyond High School Musical as an actor, your doubts will be put to rest. In a word, he’s mesmerizing in Charlie St. Cloud.

Without giving too much away, the storyline was a lot more dramatic and emotional than I expected. It’s likely that critics will rip this mushy, romantic chick-flick  apart — but I think the movie did exactly was what it needed to do. It will make the hopeless romantics out there continue to believe that love is all that matters in the end — that love is what makes life worth living.
