On The View, this morning, Barack Obama opened up about being a dad to two girls who are growing up way too fast!
It’s no secret that dads have a hard time dealing with their daughters growing up. And President Barack Obama is no different to any other father. On The View this morning, when asked about the highlight of this past month, he didn’t hesitate, and told Barbara Walters and Co. that it was spending time with his daughters, Malia and Sasha, on a family vacation in Maine.
“We went on bike rides and hikes and the girls are getting old enough now where they’re not quite teenagers yet, so they still like you, but they are full of opinions and ideas and observations and it’s just a great age,” he said. “Malia just turned 12 and Sasha just turned 9 and it couldn’t have been a better couple of days.”
Later in the show, when the president was asked about not being invited to Chelsea Clinton‘s wedding, he said, “I was not invited because I think Hillary and Bill properly want to keep this as a thing for Chelsea and her soon-to-be husband,” he added with a laugh, “And I’m letting you guys know now, y’all probably will not be invited to Malia’s wedding or Sasha’s wedding.”
But it’s way too soon for President Obama to think about his daughters growing up and getting married. When asked if boys had entered the picture for either of his girls, he yelled, “Thankfully NO!”
It’s clear that somebody is having a hard time with the fact that Malia is almost a teenager. In a recent speech, the President talked about her being so tall, saying, “She may be 5’9″, but she’s still my baby.” He went on to say that she just got braces, which he likes, because it keeps her looking “like a kid.”
Enjoy this time while you can, Mr. President, because the girls will be all grown up before you know it!
