Is this photograph proof that Mel really DID hit Oksana? The snap, which leaked on the Internet today, is being used as evidence in the criminal and civil investigation against the formerly A-list actor
Mel Gibson seems to be fighting a losing battle – one that hasn’t even entered the court room yet! A photo of Oksana Grigorieva sporting a black eye leaked onto the Internet July 27 and may serve as further evidence in the criminal case against the Russian pianist’s former lover, Mel Gibson, who allegedly abused her.
The photo — which shows Oksana’s left eye bruised and swollen — was allegedly taken Jan. 7, the day after the epic domestic dispute between the two; the 54-year-old actor reportedly punched his now-former lover in the head while she was holding their then-two-month old daughter, Lucia.
Oksana, 40, has told officials Mel punched her near the temple of her head, causing her left eye to swell and bruise. She also claims the Braveheart star punched her in the mouth so hard that it chipped her tooth, a claim that seems to be substantiated with photographic evidence.
Mel is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department on charges of domestic abuse, child endangerment and gun possession; Oksana is being investigated on extortion charges.
According to LA Sheriff’s Dept. Spokesperson Steve Whitmore, officials interviewed Mel Sunday, July 25, about the extortion claims, but were not legally allowed to question him about the other charges during that specific session.
