It’s been nearly two years since Taylor released a third album, but the wait is finally over!
It’s been two long years since her award-winning album, Fearless, dropped, but Taylor Swift announced today via a live video chat on Ustream that her new album, Speak Now, is coming out Oct. 25!
“Ever since we put out Fearless I’ve been writing this one,” the 20-year-old songbird told her fans July 20. “Through the past two years, I’ve been through a lot of things that I have been dying to write about and talk about. There were a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment but couldn’t, and this album is my opportunity to do that.”
Unlike her first two albums, Taylor wrote each and every one of the 14 tracks on Speak Now without any help.
“I didn’t have any co-writers, and it didn’t really happen on purpose,” she explained. “I’d get my best ideas at 3 am in Arkansas when I didn’t have any co-writers around, so I would just finish it.”
When fans begged Taylor for the latest on her love life — and her budding relationship with music video co-star Toby Hemingway — the Pennsylvania-native said she doesn’t talk about her boyfriends in interviews and that she saves them for her songs. In fact, Speak Now is her opportunity to open up about her past relationships!
“[It’s about] my tendency to run from love…every really direct example of love that I’ve had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that,” Taylor said. “So I think I’ve developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love.
