Poor Malia Obama — You're Going To Summer Camp For A Month, But Your Bunkmates Are Secret Service Men!

The President’s daughter is leaving her dad’s side to have fun in the sun (kind of) at sleepaway camp!

Malia Obama is trying to be a normal girl and have a normal childhood, but that’s pretty hard when your dad is the President of the United States! Barack Obama‘s 12-year-old daughter is trying to enjoy a regular childhood by heading to summer camp for a month.

“We’re going to be trying to figure out where we’re going to be able to take some time over the course of the summer,” the Prez told NBC, adding, “But a month of it’s going to be taken up with Malia going away for camp, which she’s never done before.”

Unfortunately for Malia, her playmates won’t be regular young girls: the AFP says that her bunkmates will be several Secret Service men. BOO!

As for the rest of the Obama fam, they’ll be enjoying their summer as well! Barack, Michelle and daughter Sasha are vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine, as of July 16, where they are bike-riding, hiking and – best of all – eating ice cream.
