Lindsay may have been ridiculous in comparing herself to a woman sentenced to be stoned for adultery, but she did bring attention to the cause and now YOU can help.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother in Iran, has been in jail since 2006 for having what was deemed an ‘illicit relationship.’ She received 99 lashes, but later recanted her statement that she had committed adultery, there considered to be a crime. She was retried however and sentenced to death — by stoning.
The practice of stoning involves binding the victim in cloth, burying them up to their shoulders in sand, and pelting them with rocks.
The government is now saying they will not stone Sakineh, though her death will likely be carried out via hanging.
Lindsay Lohan’s recent tweets comparing her plight to Sakineh’s, however grotesquely off base and inappropriate, have created a greater awareness of the cause and you too can help. By signing the petition below you are helping to speak out against the inhumane practices against women in many countries.

Camel owners understand that without proper training the camel is wild and worthless, only after months of beatings a camel has earned the right to wear a saddle. Training a bride is more difficult, she is also wild and worthless and it takes years of harsh discipline before she is fit to be called a wife. A man can be judged by his camel and the obedience of his family, a man with an untrained family and a wild camel is an apostate, and should be stoned to death.
