BFFs, you might have thought Bret would fill the seat of Idol creator and judge Simon Cowell, but don’t assume it’s a done deal. The rocker might have another show in the works, and we have the scoop!

Bret Michaels, are you the next American Idol judge? Or are you making some other deals on the side just in case that doesn’t work out! HollywoodLife.com has spoken to a source very close to the Poison frontman, and they tell us that Bret might actually sign on to do a show for CBS called Rock Star Supernova! The show originally ran for two seasons between 2006-08 was hosted by rocker Dave Navarro. Now Bret might be bringing the show back by hosting it!

“He’s been approached by numerous networks,” says our source. “But it looks as though Rock Star could definitely be the one.”

The show’s premise is based on a well-known band looking for a lead vocalist to join their group. The original show centered around Tommy Lee‘s band Motley Crue, Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, and former Guns N’Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke who had formed a new band called Rock Star Supernova and the winner would become the lead singer.

Do you think Bret should ditch his Idol plans and jump on this gig? Tell us what you think!

To the person who wrote this article:
Just to let you know, Simon Cowell is not the Idol creator; he has no control whatsoever over the Idol franchise. He was just a judge on that show.

I would rather see Bret on a show that supports the classic rock and hard rock industry more. I always liked the Rockstar shows better than Idol. I saw both Rockstar INXS and Supernova. They played better rockin songs on that show. I also liked the contestant alot better. :0)

I just tried to comment.
The first show was RockStar INXS – and it was to find a replacement for Michael Hutchens of INXS.

Then it was RockSTAR Supernova which was Tommy Lee’s group.

Bret would do great on either show -OR BOTH!!!!!! —

American Idol NEEDS a singer of Bret’s caliber as a judge….Harry Connick, Jr. is a good singer – but not a “pop” icon.
