It’s getting very close: ‘Eclipse,’ the latest in the Twilight Saga, is on track to break the six-day July 4th weekend record of $180 million in box office set by ‘Spider-Man 2!’
It would seem obvious that werewolves and vampires could beat a spider in a fight, but when it’s a radioactive spider that currently holds the 4th of July holiday record of $180 million in box office bucks, we have more of a fight on our hands. According to our sister site Deadline.com, Eclipse has racked up $161 million already, and it’s on track to make $181 million for the six-day holiday weekend.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse broke box office records for midnight AND Wednesday screenings — if it makes nearly $100 million more over the long weekend, it will break Independence Day weekend box office records! Spider-Man 2 currently holds the record at a whopping $180 million, and according to our sister site Deadline.com, the current projections have Eclipse making $178 mil — just shy of the record.
After witnessing Twi-hard dedication first hand, we here at HollywoodLife.com are confident this record can be broken and that the current projections can be surpassed. Run to your nearest theaters, Twilight lovers…we have some tickets to buy!
